About GroWild

GroWild, Inc. is a Tennessee plant nursery specializing in native North American plants. GroWild has over 950 species and cultivars of native perennials, wildflowers, trees, shrubs, vines, and grasses. We are growers and will sell to the public by appointment. To visit the nursery, please call and schedule a time.

We pay special attention to the provenance of our plants. The great majority of our inventory is propagated on-site and most originates from the mid-South. In fact, much of our stock comes from Middle Tennessee and a surprising amount is a local genotype native to GroWild’s own 127 acres of beautiful hills and hollows.

Our History

When we started GroWild, Inc. in 1997, we were on a mission. We both believed that a nursery specializing in top quality native plants could be a successful business as well as a powerful platform for advancing the use of native plants in modern landscapes.

Time has shown that our initial vision was right on the mark. Today GroWild is recognized as one of the leading native plant nurseries in the eastern U.S. We’ve become a well-known source of quality native plant material for a multitude of designers and landscape architects, with new converts coming on board all the time.

Happy Customers

“It’s now 5 months since the native pollinator garden and several trees were planted by Growild. The plants have thrived and blossomed with lovely flowers, attracting bees, caterpillars, butterflies and hummingbird birds who enjoy them more intimately. The garden has brought great joy!”
“As good as it gets. I have a lot of experience shopping natives and in nurseries. This staff knows what they are doing!!

The staff was not only polite but inviting and friendly. They were willing to answer any and all questions (and I had lots). They talked to us about care of the plants and, when they knew our plan for space, gave us alternatives that we hadn’t thought of.”

“Amazing selection of native trees, shrubs, flowers, etc. Mike’s enthusiasm for native plants and trees is infectious, and makes you want to know more and more about native options.”
“I have been working with Mike and Terry at GroWild for over 10 years. Their wide range and depth of native plants have made gardening with natives so successful. The advice, care and personal involvement in the evolution (as budget and time would allow) of the garden design have been fantastic. “The Spirit of place” is real — and GroWild has fostered it. I am grateful!”

“What a beautiful place to buy indigenous species! They are knowledgeable and inspiring. Don’t miss their spring and fall festivals. It’s a great way to launch your own pocket prairie.”

“This is the most unique and gorgeous gardening destination in TN. Their spring festival (my annual rite of spring) and fall sale are not to be missed.”
